The competition was initiated by the Western Regional Minister and sponsored by Goldfields Tarkwa, partnered by Samartex Timber & Plywood Company Limited and featured 8 clubs grouped into 2 zones. The 2 day training was to refresh Samartex cooks and caretakers on the topic: Food, environmental and personal, hygiene techniques and kitchen/table manners. This was held at the Samartex management club house by Mr. Lord Pius Yalley (Senior Dietician) from Tarkwa Municipal Hospital. Day One activity: Cooks were taken through a pre-test exam to test their knowledge on Food, Environment and Personal Hygiene and Table Manners. This was followed by a presentation on the topic. Ms. Tina Sprague (nurse from USA) spearheaded the exercise and was assisted by Mr. Emmanuel Manu, anaesthesia from Cape Cost Government Hospital. The two day programme was basically to train workers on CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), after which workers took turns for practical illustration. . In case of emergency with the absence of medical personnel the CPR serves as an effective first aid but to protect lives in order not to cause more harm, the right procedure must be followed, hence bringing in medical personnel for training.

Samartex School Celebrates its 10th graduation speech and prize giving day on the 23rd July, 2019. Activities held were poetry recitals, drama, cultural dances and election of Miss Samartex for the said year. The 10th graduation ceremony was celebrated on several themes but the main theme was Quality Education, the role of parents and stake holders. May Measurement Month (MMM) is a global awareness campaign initiated by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), which represents the world’s leading scientists, clinicians, health care providers and allied health care workers, all with a common interest in hypertension (high blood pressure) research.
